LPP develops the EcoAware collections as part of the Sustainable Development Strategy
One of the brands from LPP portfolio – Reserved – has introduced Joyful #EcoAware new spring-summer season clothing collection made of 100% organic and recycled materials. This is yet another stage of implementation of the sustainable development strategy announced by the company under the name “For People For Our Planet”. By the end of 2025, as a result of this comprehensive programme LPP will have increased the share of more environmentally friendly collections in its flagship brand to 50%. The company will also gradually promote closed-loop production methods in the factories of its suppliers, thus taking an important step towards reducing its carbon footprint.
The première of the new Reserved Joyful #EcoAware collection for the spring-summer 2020 season is the outcome of the systematic increase in the share of more environmentally friendly collections in the company’s products announced by LPP. In the autumn-winter 2019 season, clothes with the Eco Aware label constituted over 20% of the offer of Reserved and Mohito brands. Over the next two years, in all the brands belonging to LPP, the share of such collections will amount to 25%, and company’s gradual expansion of the range of fabrics from sustainable sources will certainly help to achieve this. Meanwhile, by 2025, every second piece of Reserved brand clothing is to be produced in line with the Eco Aware concept.
Thanks to the use of innovative production technologies, clothes with the Eco Aware label use materials whose fibres come from consumer waste, such as plastic bottles. This method is used to obtain polyester present in the clothes of the latest Reserved capsule collection. In addition to synthetic fabrics, to prepare Joyful #EcoAware line organic and recycled cotton was used , along with Tencel™Lyocell and Lenzing™ EcoVero™ viscose from eucalyptus, beech and spruce. The fabric was developed in a sustainable process, with a closed water cycle and ongoing regeneration of the wood resources through new plantings of trees necessary for cellulose extraction. The Joyful collection also uses Eastman Naia™ fabric made from cellulose for the first time.
– Each of over 30 models in the new Reserved Joyful #EcoAware collection is made from certified fabrics and knitted fabrics that have been certified and produced in an environmentally friendly manner. Our efforts to find and verify the eco-authenticity of materials used here have certainly paid off. Kept in modern, feminine aesthetics, with its design and subtle colours the capsule collection also refers to nature and what symbolizes rebirth and joy – comments Anna Sołtys, Reserved Product Office Director in LPP.
The ambassador of the new line prepared on the basis of more environmentally friendly materials and with the use of modern technologies was Naomi Chin Wing. A model from Trinidad and Tobago, a star of Paris and New York catwalks, who has had many successful photo shoots for leading fashion magazines. Despite her young age, she has already gained recognition in the high fashion world.
The Reserved spring collection of Eco Aware line is another element of the development of environmentally friendly offer for customers of the Polish clothing manufacturer’s network. In accordance with the strategy assumptions, this year the company from Gdańsk will establish the Eco Aware Production standard, i.e. a plan of responsible production based on the method of closed-loop manufacturing of clothes and accessories. In the years to come, 30% of the plants cooperating with LPP in South Asia are to operate according to the concept of reasonable water and energy management, and in three years’ time 100% of jeans factories will be covered by it.
At the same time, LPP has been consistently implementing the remaining assumptions of the sustainable development strategy. Thanks to the gradual reduction of plastic in the e-commerce channel, the company has so far reduced its consumption by as much as 250 tons. Moreover, the company has been consistently working towards the complete elimination of non-closed loop packaging from the sales network and the supply chain, which is expected by the end of 2025. All these measures are aimed at reducing the carbon footprint generated by the company by 15%.
