LPP awarded the Golden and Green CSR Leaf awards
LPP was once again secured its place among the leaders acting for sustainable development and ESG in the annual ranking of CSR Leaves by Polityka weekly. For the second year in a row, the Gdańsk-based company won the Golden and Green Leaf. The former for its overall activities viewed from an environmental, social and corporate governance perspective, the latter for reducing its negative climate impact. In addition, the company received a distinction for increasing the share of REN in powering its buildings.
This year, for the twelfth time, Polityka weekly, Deloitte and the Responsible Business Forum honoured Polish leaders whose activities were assessed from an environmental, social and corporate governance perspective. Out of 127 applications, the Golden Leaves went to 24 companies, including LPP for the second time. The Gdańsk-based company was recognised for its consistent implementation of the principles of sustainable development and their prominent place in the company’s business strategy and stakeholder relations. An important criterion for the evaluation of companies was also the manner in which they report their activities in non-financial or integrated reports.
– This year’s award is of particular importance to us. For the second year in a row, the jury has confirmed the rightfulness of the direction set by LPP, which involves consistent implementation of the sustainable development strategy. Among other things, they appreciated the way in which we report our activities in the area of social policy and those aimed at limiting the company’s environmental impact. In this regard, we are in the midst of dynamic changes relating to the scope and detail of data to be included in the reporting process. The award in this category is therefore an important signal to us that we are well prepared for the upcoming challenges – says Sławomir Ronkowski, internal communications and CSR director at LPP.
This is the second time that Polityka has awarded Green Leaves to companies that have taken the most effective steps towards climate neutrality, and also the second time this award has been granted to LPP. Last year, the Gdańsk-based company focused its efforts on implementing further projects in the area of circular economy, reducing packaging waste and decreasing the use of plastics. The jury appreciated the measurement of LPP’s carbon footprint in all scopes, which began in 2021, and the setting of greenhouse gas reduction targets currently being verified using the SBTi scientific method.
In this year’s edition of CSR Leaves, the jury awarded the Gdańsk-based company an additional distinction for its activities in the area of renewable energy sources use. In this regard, the agreement concluded with Figene, under which LPP’s Polish offices and distribution centres have been powered by wind energy as of the beginning of 2023, was of key importance.
All companies participating in the ranking completed questionnaires developed in accordance with the standards of the ISO 26000 core principles of social responsibility and in relation to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards and the latest ESG trends.
