Shopping without costs. LPP Foundation has a new project: Shop Without Receipts

Shop Without Receipts is a new formula for providing material aid to those in need while offering them a sense of empowerment and choice. The goal of the project launched by the LPP Foundation is to donate clothes in a manner reminiscent of the shopping process while creating an atmosphere that is friendly and respectful for any beneficiary. The first edition took place in July at the Dolna Brama Centre in Gdańsk, with more than 1,400 pieces of new clothing and accessories available for anyone in need. The next edition of the initiative is scheduled for October.

As part of the Shop Without Receipts campaign, launched in July this year, 112 people qualified for the project by the Municipal Family Support Centre in Gdańsk were able to buy new clothes from a wide range of brands owned by LPP, a Polish clothing manufacturer. Shopping was done in a purpose-made space resembling a traditional shop, with shelves and changing rooms. Shoppers paid at the checkout using an individual voucher with a QR code, and the products they chose were packaged in bags made of recycled material prepared for the occasion. Each person was free to choose nearly 30 pieces of clothing and accessories, including outerwear, trousers, shirts, sweatshirts, and dresses. As a result, the shoppers had the opportunity to get new outfits of their own choosing, an option that underlines the individual nature of the aid provided as part of the project. The foundation donated more than 1,400 items in total.

We realise that there are many people who cannot afford to buy new clothes in clothing shops in shopping centres. But the fact is that fashion should be accessible to everyone, which is why we wanted the Shop Without Receipts charity event to be more than just a clothes donation. We strove to re-create the shopping atmosphere known from a real shop, with everyone able to choose what best suits their needs and tastes and what they feel most comfortable in, with no worries about the cost. Our goal was not only to provide those in need with new clothes, but also to create a space where they could feel respected and valued while receiving individual attention. Cooperation with the Municipal Family Support Centre in Gdańsk was crucial for us to select people from the target group in the best possible way and to tailor our aid to their real needs – comments Patrycja Zbytniewska, CEO of the LPP Foundation..

In addition to providing material aid, the Shop Without Receipts project seeks to promote volunteering and activities that make a real difference to those most in need. The organisation of the event involved 19 LPP volunteers, who prepared the space of the Dolna Brama Centre for the temporary charity shop and were active in assisting the event participants to choose the right clothes and styles.

The Shop Without Receipts project is an exceptional effort and a special kind of aid, which has enabled persons under our care to feel at ease when receiving support. They were free to choose, make their own decisions and enjoy the form itself, which truly felt like shopping. The assistance of the volunteers, who assumed the role of stylists, also demonstrates great sensitivity and understanding. Many thanks to the LPP Foundation, and we are looking forward to the next planned editions of this unique social responsibility project – adds Magdalena Theus, Chief Specialist for Support and Organisation of Social Activities at the Municipal Family Support Centre in Gdańsk..

The LPP Foundation is planning the next edition of Shop Without Receipts, which is due to take place in October 2024. This time, the project will be run in collaboration with the Gdańsk Foundation for Social Innovation.
