Competencies of the future. LPP at the POWER ON conference
The third edition of the POWER ON conference in Gdańsk has just come to an end. As always, the focus of attention has been on the competencies of the future in the creative industry. For the Gdańsk-based company, this is an opportunity to demonstrate its versatile experience and to attract talents to work in the fashion industry.
“POWER ON: Conference. Competencies for the Future in the Creative Industries” was held in early October at the Plenum, on the premises of the Gdańsk shipyard. LPP and Reserved have been a partner of this event from the very outset. The project was born through the efforts of communities involved in the creation and design in the broadest sense. The initiative won the support of the Gdańsk-based company right at the outset, and the partnership has been developing in two directions at the same time: financial support for the event and the participation of LPP’s experts.
– We are committed to supporting the creative industry and its development, especially on a local basis, in the city that is home to our headquarters, employing more than 1,000 designers alone. The event attracts our employees, both as listeners craving inspiration and as speakers and workshop leaders. POWER ON at Ulica Elektryków provides a space for sharing experiences and exchanging ideas. A space which is a powerful attraction for anyone interested in creativity and which we continue to use for other projects designed for this audience – says Sławomir Ronkowski, director of brand communication and social relations at LPP.
This year’s edition included a large number of talks given by leading figures from the creative community, including science and education, video and photography, graphic and spatial design, and the fashion and recording business. There was also ample space for networking for junior creatives and visionaries, as well as for experienced industry professionals, researchers and anyone willing to take their first steps in these areas. The conference programmes provided participants with plenty of inspiration and viable tools and competences for project management and brand building.
– We were keen to position POWER ON as an event focused on the future of the creative industries. Two well-received editions have established a strong event brand that boosts the development of the creative industries by providing the most up-to-date knowledge and insight into new design, branding, production and art direction. We are delighted that we have been working on this project together with LPP and Reserved from the very start. This cooperation allows us to respond to contemporary educational and development needs – says Jakub Reza Imani, initiator and organiser of the conference and CEO and creative director of Ulica Elektryków, Plenum and Crane Agency. He has been supported in his efforts on the event by Dominika Koliszewska, Project Manager in the Crane Agency.
The conference attracts ever more people every year, and the organisers are committed to developing the concept by increasing the number of venues, offering new workshop opportunities and extra afterparty options in the evening. Now in its third year, the event has achieved prominence, attracting participants and speakers from outside Pomorskie.
– I value very much the initiative and ideas of the conference organisers. I believe that it would be hard to find better support for young creators in their endeavours and ideas to grow and become satisfied with their own work. Speaking at the conference was quite a challenge for me. First of all, I was keen to give inspiration to the young participants and show them that you can combine working in a commercial brand with being an artist, derive immense satisfaction from it and find fulfilment. In addition, my presentation was a sort of summary of nearly 25 years of work in a dynamically developing company, which today is one of the largest in Central Europe – says Dagmara Galecka, art director of window and interior display at Reserved, one of this year’s speakers.
One of the distinguishing features of the project is its location on the former Gdańsk shipyard premises, where the Młode Miasto district is now under construction. This is one example of successful regeneration of brownfield sites in Europe. At its heart is Ulica Elektryków, its all-year-round Plenum space, a meeting point for a wide range of creative circles, music fans and street art followers.
LPP and Reserved are now thinking about a fourth edition in partnership with Crane. The Gdańsk-based company remains open to development and keeps attracting new talents. It finds this form of presenting experience to be best suited to the needs of today’s job candidates in the creative industry.
