LPP Group due to donate 20,000 clothes to aid the flood victims

The Polish LPP clothing group has decided to launch an aid package for people hit hard by the floods in southern Poland. The task force established by the company as a matter of urgency coordinates the distribution of financial and in-kind support to the affected employees of the chain’s shops from the disaster areas. Furthermore, in partnership with the Polish Red Cross, the LPP Foundation is donating 20,000 items of clothing to those in need. LPP also offers aid also to affected organisations running animal shelters, with Sinsay organising a collection of essential accessories.

In response to reports arriving during the first days of the flooding in southern Poland about the needs of those living in towns and cities hit by the disaster, the LPP Group and the LPP Foundation has launched a range of activities to provide aid to the employees of its sales network and many of those affected by the floods in Dolny Śląsk.

– As soon as the unthinkable tragedy hit the residents of southern Poland, we started to keep a close eye on the situation of our employees, as well as that of the entire community in the flooded areas. There are plenty of needs, and the situation is hugely dynamic, which is why we have decided to team up with the Polish Red Cross to donate in-kind aid in the form of 20,000 items of clothing from our brands. We are confident that the experience of our staff and volunteer,s combined with their up-to-date understanding of how those affected are faring, will ensure that our support is adequate to meet their actual needs – said Marek Piechocki, CEO of LPP.

The Polish Red Cross is one of a number of humanitarian organisations monitoring and coordinating the rescue, evacuation and relief operations from the first hours of the floods in Dolny Śląsk.

Given the huge scale of the damage, which has also affected many employees of the LPP Group shops and their families, tour management board has decided to launch an aid package to support them. In the first place, non-repayable aid will be granted as a matter of urgency to employees whose home or flat, or essential belongings, have been damaged by the floods. Furthermore, each employee affected by the floods will receive prepaid cards to be able to purchase clothing and accessories within the Group’s sales network.

– Faced with unexpected and tragic events, such as the pandemic, the war in Ukraine or the natural disaster that has recently hit the south of our country, we keep our employees in mind. The task force established following the floods stays in regular contact with regional sales network managers as a matter of urgency, and keeps a close eye on the situation and the scale of the damage and the growing needs. In this way, each and every employee and their families will receive our support – says Patrycja Zbytniewska, president of the LPP Foundation.

It is not just the residents of southern Poland who are struggling with the aftermath of the floods, but also local animal welfare centres. A number of shelters have been damaged or destroyed. Sinsay joined the efforts to help them, with a collection of food and accessories in its shops. They were later donated to the institutions most in need. Information on the details of the campaign will be available straight away on the brand’s website, in social media and in the brand shops. Flood-hit organisations providing day-to-day care for animals can also expect support from the LPP Foundation, which is due to allocate funds for the repair and rebuilding of selected shelters. All institutions wishing to receive financial aid can apply via the form available at www.lpp.com/en/lpp-foundation/.
