LPP has earmarked PLN 5.4 million for support of health facilities as part of the #LPPpomaga action
As part of the fight against the coronavirus epidemic, LPP, the owner of Reserved, Mohito, Cropp, House and Sinsay brands, has bought another 700 thousand protective masks, which will soon reach those in need. Since the launch of the #LPPpomaga action, the Gdańsk-based company has already earmarked PLN 5.4 million for this purpose. Thanks to the increased number of ordered protective measures, even 300 medical facilities in the country will receive the support from LPP.
As the epidemiological situation in Poland develops, the demand for personal protective equipment increases. LPP has been receiving further requests for support from various institutions, therefore the Gdańsk-based company has decided to significantly expand the scope of its assistance for the facilities most in need. Not only infectious and specialist hospitals are the facilities which have received help from the company, but also emergency medical services, social welfare homes, foundations, medical centres, specialist clinics or district health centres. The list of beneficiaries is constantly growing.
So far, over 355 thousand of protective masks have already been delivered to over 130 establishments mainly in Pomerania and Małopolska. Every fourth of them has been donated by the Gdańsk company to hospitals in other regions of the country. A contingent of another 700 thousand additional masks has just arrived in Poland. Thus, the scope of assistance within the framework of the #LPPpomaga action has consisted in over a million protective masks, whose market value amounts to PLN 5.4 million. Thanks to this support, so necessary today, it will reach even 300 medical facilities located throughout Poland.
– It is not only hospitals, but also care centres or welfare institutions that are requesting our assistance. In this situation it is difficult to deny anyone help. The project is managed by a team of several people, which coordinates the process of distribution of protective masks, and colleagues from the administration department distribute up to 25 thousand masks every day to the indicated addresses. The spirit of support has always been in our DNA, so I am happy and proud of my people who, in the face of the current challenges, show their strength and great commitment – comments Marek Piechocki, CEO and founder of LPP.
Given the current disruption in the supply chain and the importance of the goods we have imported, the challenging aspect was the logistics. Thanks to many years of experience and trade contacts, it was possible to quickly organise the transport of the contingent to Poland. – It was important that the shipment from Asia was carried out without any disturbances and the delivery reached us efficiently and quickly. After analysing various possible transport options, we finally decided that the delivery of such a large batch, i.e. 700 thousand pieces of masks, will be organised by rail. We have a lot of experience in this respect, because we regularly organise shipments from China to Poland along the New Silk Road. The masks travelled more than 11,000 km and the delivery process itself from Chinese Xi’an to our Distribution Centre took 16 days – explains Sebastian Sołtys, Logistics Director of LPP.
With the dynamically growing needs, LPP is expanding the reach of the assistance offered every day. Since the beginning of the epidemic, LPP employees have been sewing cotton masks and protective overalls, which are used, among others, by non-medical staff. So far, more than 12 thousand cotton masks and over a thousand overalls have already been handed to persons who needed them. Moreover, as part of the “Polish Sewing Rooms” project, the company has been supporting the Industrial Development Agency in the coordination and logistics service of the production of 750 thousand masks by 19 domestic sewing rooms. It is also involved in trade negotiations and is importing one million medical overalls from Turkey. Despite the difficult situation that affects the whole market, companies and industries show solidarity by joining forces. Therefore, apart from its own charity initiatives, LPP has also joined national actions such as Jesteśmy Razem. Pomagamy [Helping. Together]. The project is carried out by Jesteśmy Razem Foundation which brings together companies operating in Poland to fight the coronavirus. Over a hundred people from various departments of LPP have been involved in the help actions within the framework of the #LPPpomaga from the very beginning.
